Pre-agreement to reduce the layoffs of the Facebook subcontractor in Barcelona from 334 to 251

The ERE of the Facebook subcontractor in Barcelona could affect fewer people than expected. The CCC company and the CC.OO. and UGT have closed a pre-agreement that contemplates reducing dismissals from 334 to 251. The pact must be submitted to a vote by the workers.

Sources of CC.OO. They value the pre-agreement positively since it reduces departures and increases voluntary secondments. In this way, only 30% of the dismissals are expected to be carried out by force, under the criterion of less seniority in the company. According to union sources, the ERE contemplates compensation of 30 days per year worked and excludes protected groups, such as pregnant women and those over 55 years of age.

In addition, these same sources ensure that the company is committed to reincorporating the dismissed people as there are places available in the employment exchange. In fact, CCC (owned by the Canadian group Telus) has just opened 184 vacancies for part-time jobs, linked to weekend shifts (Saturday, Sunday and Monday).

If the vote goes ahead, the unions plan to call off the concentration scheduled for next Monday in front of the Torre Glòries, the building where the staff works. Currently, the team is made up of about 2,200 workers. Its main function is to filter violent or inappropriate content.

In parallel, the company was penalized last year by the Labor Inspectorate of the Generalitat for not complying with the law for the prevention of psychosocial risks. A worker who was continually viewing violent images suffered from health problems.

According to the company, the ERE that is expected to be applied now is due to the drop in business activity, a phenomenon that affects all major technology companies transversally.
