“My opinions are as president, I am totally autonomous and I put the region before the interests of my political formation,” Page warned, regarding the agreement signed between the PSOE and Junts. “We are not going to tolerate under any circumstances that someone uses the singularity, the plurality of Spain, the story of the milkmaid, to have privileges,” he highlighted. “Normally I am one of those who speak clearly, not only Puigdemont will speak, Page can also speak. And I do it from Spain,” he alleged, during his visit to the Manzanares Hospital, in Ciudad Real, in reference to the intervention carried out by the former president of the Generalitat the day before from the Belgian capital.
“I say very calmly that it will be impossible, with an agreement or without an agreement, whether a government wants it or not, for a project to emerge that privileges a part of Spain. And it will be absolutely impossible for there to be a vote that calls the Constitution into question. That cannot be voted on, especially in part of the country,” Page stressed. The president of Castilla-La Mancha has shown himself to be “very concerned” about the “noise” generated by the investiture pact between the PSOE and Junts, and also about the “permanent changes of opinion”, in a veiled allusion to the change in criteria. of Pedro Sánchez regarding the amnesty for those prosecuted by the process. “It is neither a warning nor a threat,” he assured. “But if recourse must be exercised, I will do so; and if we have to fight, I will do it,” he promised.
“I opposed amnesty because it means erasing a crime without accountability,” Page said. “But now I see that there is something worse, and it is the attempt to rewrite what happened,” she said. “I completely disagree with the story that was put forward yesterday, it is a false story: Puigdemont is guilty, he is not a victim of anything,” she said. “The judges have applied the laws and cannot be subject to persecution. You cannot cure a disease without a good diagnosis. When the story is false, let no one think that the problem is going to be solved,” she warned.
Page has denounced the agreement signed the day before between the PSOE and Junts. “What I saw yesterday is a lot of need, some to govern and others to get out of jail, and no virtue,” she said, referring to Sánchez and Puigdemont.
In the same line as that expressed by the former President of the Government Felipe González, Page has regretted the climate of “polarization” that has been established in his opinion in society, before the investiture of Sánchez thanks to the support of the Catalan independence movement. “Part of the country is being mobilized to prevent the Spanish right from taking power, but the Catalan pro-independence right is being given control.
