One of the activists during the eviction of Estudi 9, a squatted property in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, broke all the bones in her arm when she put it in a drum of reinforced cement, according to sources from the police force to La Vanguardia.

To try to prevent the eviction, the young woman – 24 years old – put her arm in the drum with the liquid mixture. As she began to cool and solidify, the cement began to press on her arm, causing her to almost lose consciousness.

When the emergency health teams arrived they found that the young woman had already broken all her bones. Furthermore, the young woman's condition led them to fear that she would collapse. Finally, she was transferred to Can Ruti, where she is recovering from her injuries.

As ACN learned from sources close to the case, at first the possibility that the young woman would end up losing her arm was not even ruled out, but in the end, the same sources say, she will be able to keep it.

Last Thursday night, 300 people protested in Santa Coloma against the eviction, in an action that ended with a police charge and some damage to street furniture and shop windows, although no arrests were made.

The Mossos d'Esquadra took several hours to carry out the eviction. The operation in this squat in Santa Coloma coincided with that of El Kubo and la Ruïna, in the Bonanova neighborhood of Barcelona, which resulted in seven people arrested, six men and one woman, all of them of legal age.
