In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can see this series of photographs of the tower of the castle of Ardèvol and the bell tower of the church of Santa Maria, which are located in the same plaza del pueblo, assigned to the municipality of Pinós (Solsonès) .

The tower was declared a cultural asset of national interest. This rectangular guard structure of the old castle, probably before the 11th century, was covered by a cylindrical tower, but this collapsed in 1932.

The rectangular tower has a long side of 8 meters and a short side of 4.70 meters, while its walls have a thickness of 150 cm and a height of about 15 meters.

The tower of the castle of Ardèvol is located on top of a small rock, in the center of the town, next to the parish church of Santa Maria. It is near the sanctuary of Pinós, which is located at the top of the mountain range, at 931 meters of altitude.

This castle, built on a high place, was to serve to monitor, around the year 1000, along with those of Pinós, Vallferosa, Llanera or Peracamps, the eastern sector of the border that the county of Urgell had with the lands dominated by the Muslims. .
