MTV cancels its European awards as a precaution against the situation "worldwide"

The MTV network has canceled this Thursday the celebration of the 2023 MTV Europa Music Awards (EMA) that was scheduled for November 5 in Paris as a precaution in the face of the situation that is being experienced worldwide.

The network's own official statement reported that they regretted announcing that "given the situation that is being experienced worldwide, the decision has been made not to go ahead with the MTV EMA 2023 as a precaution for the thousands of employees, team members, artists, fans and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life."

Furthermore, in the statement itself they justified the cancellation of the event by alleging that given recent "devastating events," "it does not seem like the time for a celebration of this type." The letter concludes by stating that they hope to enjoy these awards again in November 2024.

Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and SZA are the artists with the most nominations in an edition that included the presence of artists such as David Guetta, Bad Bunny, Jung Kook and Rosalía. At the moment it is unknown whether the fact that the prizes have been canceled also means that there are no winners.

The awards were going to be held in the French capital, which since the incident between Israel and Gaza has been in a state of heightened alert, especially after the murder last Friday in Arras of high school teacher Dominique Bernard, victims of the Islamist's stabbings. Russian-Chechen Mohamed Mogouchkov.

Likewise, in recent days France has suffered numerous false terrorist threats in recent days, which for example have led to the Louvre Museum and the Palace of Versailles being evacuated and temporarily closed.
