The City Council of the Alava municipality of Artziniega has decreed three days of official mourning for the death this Tuesday of an 11-year-old boy. The young man suddenly collapsed while celebrating the Halloween party with his friends.
The mayor of this municipality of 2,000 inhabitants, Joseba Vivanco, has explained to the EFE agency that at the moment the causes of the child's death are unknown, which will be clarified by the autopsy.
The minor was treated at the scene by several neighbors until the medical personnel arrived. The ambulance took him to the Cruces Hospital, in Barakaldo, where he finally died.
The City Council has decreed three days of official mourning between Thursday and Saturday, and has suspended all children's activities planned for these days. The death of the child, not in vain, has been a very big "shock" for the town, where "everyone knows each other."
Likewise, the corporation has called a silent rally on Friday at 5:30 p.m. to say goodbye to the child and express condolences and solidarity to the family and the school community of the Arteko Gure Ama school where he studied.
