Motorola presents a mobile phone that bends at will

Bends at will. It is a phone that Motorola has shown during the Tech World event that Lenovo organizes this week in Austin (Texas) and that is dedicated to artificial intelligence. The North American mobile manufacturer, owned by Lenovo, has shown a prototype, called Project Belmont, with a pOLED screen (an OLED screen with a plastic substrate that gives it great flexibility). The company has explained that “this adaptive screen concept is based on the mechanical and screen innovations” of its foldable and rollable devices for both smartphones and PCs.

One of the uses that Motorola has shown is that a wallpaper that an artificial intelligence creates inspired by an image of one's own outfit can be set to reflect the user's style like a watch worn on the wrist (perhaps something heavy for this use). The mobile screen when in a flat position has a size of 6.9 inches. Placed folded on the table to stand upright, the size reduces to 4.6 inches.

This model that Motorola has shown is conceptual. The back cover is composed of a textile outer material. The company has not given technical specifications of the device, nor how its internal components, such as the battery or motherboard, are organized. It is not for sale and there is, at the moment, no project to bring it to the market in the near future. Like other companies, this manufacturer has a folding model that opens and closes on a hinge, the Motorola Razr.
