More than 150 whales stranded in Australia

According to experts, pilot whales are a species with close social bonds that when one gets into trouble and becomes stranded, the rest usually follow. This would explain why four herds were stuck on the shore of the western coast of Australia.

The balance is quite tragic, of the 160 whales at least 26 died, despite the fact that the rescue services acted quickly. The mobility of these animals is not easy, since they can measure up to six meters and weigh more than 800 kg.

Scientists don't know what causes whales to beach, although it appears their location systems can be mistaken for gently sloping sandy beaches.
