The first vice president and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, stated this morning that both the Government and the PSOE are "prepared" to address the reform of regional financing. But if the debate has not been able to open, it is because of the PP, which she accuses of not having a single position and of not being able to impose "its criteria where it has to be imposed."
"The question is what strength Carlos Mazón has in Genoa to impose or to convey that the new financing model has to look at the Mediterranean and has to allow this land to have sufficient resources," he stated in his speech at the congress of the PSPV in Benicàssim. Montero has reiterated that he is "very aware" that the current financing model punishes the Valencian Community, which is why he has acknowledged that it seems fair that they throw the gauntlet at him to take a position on it.
"I want to say loud and clear that we are prepared to address the debate on the model, but we need the PP to have a single position on where the reform should be directed," he stressed. Along these lines, he has urged Mazón to give explanations for why the day the communities governed by the PP signed the 'Declaration of Córdoba' two weeks ago "they tiptoed through the financing model and did not dare to put forward a proposal." on the table".
"The PP cannot make a speech here and another in Madrid or in Andalusia," he pointed out, since he has defended that "it is not possible to approve a law of this substance if they do not impose their criteria where they have to impose it." Furthermore, he recalled that the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, "did not want to take Pedro Sánchez's hand to create the group for the reform because he does not want to face this debate within his party."
Faced with this, the head of the Treasury has promised that both the Government and the PSOE will continue to "work" to make the reform a reality, something to which she has committed to the new leader of the PSPV, also Minister Diana Morant. She has thus guaranteed that she will do "everything possible to create that space for dialogue that allows progress on important things."
Following his words, President Carlos Mazón, from Pilar de la Horadada, in Alicante, has urged the PSPV-PSOE to "prioritize" the Valencian Community and demand that the first vice president of the Government and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, " the financing that has been denied" to the Valencian territory "during these years.
