Òmnium dismisses its treasurer in Terres de l'Ebre for keeping 58,000 euros

The Òmnium Cultural group in Terres de l'Ebre has dismissed Xavier Blanch, until three weeks ago the leader of JxCat in Tortosa (Barcelona), as treasurer, after verifying that he diverted 58,000 euros from the sovereign entity for personal expenses.

According to sources from the entity, the dismissal of Blach, who had been treasurer of Òmnium since 2011, is the result of an internal investigation initiated by the association after detecting an irregular receipt.

The investigation has revealed that the former treasurer of Òmnium in Terres de l'Ebre appropriated up to 58,000 euros from the entity over eight years, allocating them to personal expenses, facts that Blanch has already recognized.

The entity has ensured that it reserves its right to take any legal action it deems appropriate against its former treasurer, who must return the money.
