Merino qualifies Mazón: "The budgets will be hard to prepare, but there will be no cuts"

The budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana for the 2024 financial year "will be difficult to prepare, but they will not be restrictive." In this way, Ruth Merino, spokesperson for the Consell and Minister of Finance, has qualified the statement made a few days ago by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana when referring to the draft accounts that his government intends to present next week.

According to Merino, when Mazón described the budgets as "tough", he was referring to the difficulties derived from "the exorbitant debt" that his executive has encountered after managing the Botànic "and the interest that must be paid." But he has denied that there will be cuts in essential items. "They will be responsible, rigorous and real budgets," explained the spokesperson, going on to explain that "the important thing is the efficiency, optimization and execution that is carried out" of the planned projects.

Several of the questions posed to Merino after his presentation were related to the statement made yesterday by a representative of the Power Electronics company about the staging of a supposed Valencian Battery Alliance that sought, as he stated, to attract the attention of other investments.

Measuring his words, Merino has limited himself to congratulating himself that "the strategy has worked", and only at the insistence of journalists has he criticized the Botànic's action: "the previous government made many announcements without there being anything behind them" .

Precisely today, the Consell has approved an agreement between the Departments of Finance and Territory and Business Economic Spaces for the design, construction and start-up of the Intermodal Platform in the Logistics Area of Sagunto, which has an estimated cost of 98,445,195, 71 euros and an execution period of 24 months.
