Míchel: "Real Madrid has painted our face"

Míchel Sánchez, the Girona coach, exonerated his players for the painful defeat against Real Madrid (4-0) in which his team practically said goodbye to the fight for the League, being 5 points away and with the goal average lost.

The Vallecas coach justified the white scramble more on "the merit of Real Madrid" than on the demerit of his team: the rival has too much level and this is not their League, Míchel excused himself.

“We have not been at the level that a Real Madrid requires, we already anticipated it. We have tried to play face to face, but when Real Madrid is at its maximum performance we don't arrive. "We needed our best version and they needed our worst, but it was a defeat more due to Madrid's merit than our demerit," commented Míchel after the game.

"Our players have given everything possible, but they have been much superior in the duels, Camavinga, Vinícius and Bellingham have played a great game and we are not at that level. This is our reality. This defeat helps us set our feet on earth. When you face someone of such a high level it makes you see your reality," admitted the Madrid coach.

"We must recognize that this is not our League. We are missing a step or two to be at the level of Real Madrid. So our reality was not to come to the Bernabeu to compete in the League. We wanted to come and compete face to face and we were not has reached, I encouraged my players to apply high pressure, to be brave. I could have planned a game to win, losing 1-0, putting three centre-backs, but as a club the moment we live in requires us to give our best version, to show that We are here on our own merits, but hey, they have whistled us in the face," acknowledged Míchel Sánchez.

"I don't think this defeat can hurt us. We have the humility to know how to lose and recognize when the opponent is superior," he tried to take the edge off the defeat.
