Mazón will announce today its plan to repeal any tax such as inheritance or the tourist tax

Carlos Mazón will announce today in Alicante, after the first meeting of the new Valencian Council, the measures and the plan to repeal or abolish some taxes such as inheritance and donations or the tourist tax. In addition, the Valencian president plans to activate the methodology to apply a reduction in regional income tax in accordance with what was promised during the electoral campaign or the property transfer tax for the purchase of homes.

Since last Wednesday, when he announced the names of those who will occupy the portfolios of the Valencian government, Mazón has already been giving clues that in the first meeting of his executive he wants to offer some decision on tax matters. The plan, which could be very detailed, has been prepared together with his Minister of Economy and Finance, and spokesman for the executive, Ruth Merino.

The Valencian PP gave its support in the Valencian Parliament to the tax reform promoted by Ximo Puig to reduce the tax pressure on Valencians and cushion the effects of inflation on prices. But the popular ones always considered that these measures were "insufficient", in the words of Mazón himself.

The inheritance and gift tax, described by the popular as "death tax" is the first objective. The president wants to apply the same criteria that the PP has already implemented in other autonomies such as Madrid, so everything indicates that today the announcement to repeal it will be officially made.

Something similar is to be done with the tourist tax approved in the Corts Valencianes, which is a tax that is freely applied by the Valencian city councils. The PP was forceful in its rejection of this tax, which also flatly rejects the entire Valencian tourism sector. In all these measures, the PP has the support of its government partner, Vox.

Regarding personal income tax, the Ximo Puig executive applied the tax pressure to medium and low incomes, of less than 60,000 euros, reducing the regional income tax section and increasing tax deductions. A formula that, according to what was announced, would benefit 97% of Valencian taxpayers, almost 1.4 million, who will save 150 million euros. The PP wants to extend this reduction.

Carlos Mazón announced yesterday that he was going to sign the decree of the composition of sub-secretaries and regional secretariats of his Council, which is going to give continuity to the "cut in spending on politicians". "The composition of the government continues and continues at a good pace. The decree of regional secretariats and sub-secretariats will mean that they go from 55 to 46, which will mean an annual saving of about 800,000 euros. Almost 3 million euros in this legislature, Valencians will save only in politicians".

This reduction in positions, he added, will continue in the third step, in the general directorates, advisers and temporary personnel. "I insist: almost 800,000 euros, approximately 3 million euros in this legislature in fewer politicians, in the echelons of undersecretaries, regional secretaries and consellers," he added.
