The Mataró City Council (Maresme) is carrying out an information campaign to warn food sales establishments about the obligation to comply with the Municipal Ordinance for the occupation of public roads. This campaign aims to inform current regulations and remind those responsible for food establishments that the installation of elements for displaying or selling food on the street is not permitted for reasons of pedestrian mobility, street cleaning and food safety. . To do this, it has hired two civic agents.
The municipal ordinance determines that the occupation of public roads without municipal authorization, exceeding the authorized dimensions or time, or the occupation of a space other than that granted to the authorization, are considered serious infractions that can be punished with a fine of up to 750 euros. Once this information campaign, which is being carried out in all neighborhoods of the city, ends, the Local Police will carry out a sanctioning campaign.
This information campaign in food establishments is carried out by the two civic agents who have joined the Directorate of Security, Citizenship and Coexistence through a call for employment plans subsidized by the Generalitat. They have administrative and customer service training and, during the year in which they will be hired, they will carry out informative tasks to publicize current regulations and prevent inconveniences related to civility, coexistence and responsible ownership of animals.
Both civic agents are also simultaneously carrying out other campaigns to inform about the regulations regarding the use of public space to prevent situations that may disturb coexistence, or to publicize the prohibition of feeding pigeons and other stray animals, actions that complement other actions. carried out by the night civic agent service and other current public awareness programs.
In addition, on Thursdays they are in charge of opening the beach bar at the Central Park Fair Space, a space where the Animal Welfare Office informs citizens of the most important elements regarding the responsible ownership of pets and the new state Protection Law. of Animals, as well as urban cat colonies.
