Marc Márquez announces that he is leaving Honda

The HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) competition team and Marc Márquez have parted ways. This has been announced by both the company and the pilot through their social networks. In a brief statement it is indicated that "Honda Racing Corporation and Marc Márquez have decided by mutual agreement to terminate their four-year contract early at the end of the 2023 season of the MotoGP World Championship."

With one year left until the four-year contract between HRC and Marc Márquez ends, both parties have mutually agreed to end their collaboration at the end of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season, stating that "the best for each one of them is to look for other ways in the future to better achieve their respective objectives and goals.

Márquez himself has also confirmed it in a tweet, in which he thanks the 11-year journey with the brand and reviews his titles and achievements. "Separated, but always together!" announces the Catalan pilot.

Honda explains that they will continue to collaborate for the rest of the season: "Both parties will continue to provide their full support during the remaining rounds of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season." And he ends his statement by wishing Márquez luck "in his future projects."

After the news, the name of Ducati is once again being heard loudly as the driver's future team. A few days ago, Ducati's top sports manager, Gigi dall'Igna, assumed in an interview on the Italian channel Sky that Márquez will race with the Ducati Gresini: “Marc has been one of the strongest riders in history, so the fact that he wants to get on a Ducati can only make us happy,” said the engineer.

“[Marc] has decided to leave a Honda to get on an unofficial Ducati [from the Gresini team], so he underlines the fact that he wants our bike and that can only be a pleasure.” The Italian coach asserted, however, that "there is nothing official yet.

This marks the end of 11 years of collaboration between Marc Márquez and HRC in which they have together achieved six premier class world championships, five Triple Crowns, 59 victories, 101 podiums and 64 pole positions.

Márquez achieved his debut victory in the premier class with the Honda RC213V at the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin (Texas) in 2013, to become the youngest winner of the premier class and that same year he would become the Champion of the Youngest world in the premier class.

In 2014 he defended his title and won the first 10 consecutive races of the year, going on to also claim the titles in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 as an HRC driver.

Both parties will continue to provide their full support in the remaining rounds of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season and "HRC wishes Marc Márquez the best in his future projects," the statement said.
