María José "Mako" Mira, the regional Secretary of Economy, has resigned today "at her own request", according to the Consell's spokesperson, Ruth Merino. Her decision will be known fifteen days after it was revealed that the Anti-Fraud Agency has investigated her for improper use of an Emergency helicopter to rescue a friend in May 2022, when she was part of the Botànic Government.
The Valencian Government has appointed Jesús Gual, current director general of European Funds and Public Sector, to fill his position. Mira was a senior official in the Valencian Government since 2015, when she was appointed regional secretary of Economic Model and Financing with the PSPV, Compromís and Unides-Podem Council, and since September 2023 she was regional secretary of Economy with the PP coalition Council and Vox.
Its continuity despite the change of regional government was justified at the time to give continuity to the negotiations with Power Co aimed at the launch of the Volkswagen gigafactory in Sagunto (Valencia).
