María Dolores Dancausa steps down as CEO of Bankinter and will assume the presidency

The board of directors of Bankinter agreed this Wednesday to propose María Dolores Dancausa as the new non-executive president of the entity, who will leave her current position as CEO in March 2024, in which she has held since 2010.

Dancausa will replace Pedro Guerrero, who has decided to resign as non-executive president, according to the information sent by the bank to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The position of CEO will be assumed by Gloria Ortiz Portero, until now general director of the entity and member of the management committee. These movements are accompanied by some changes in the board of directors, from which the until now president leaves and Ortiz enters, as an executive member.

All these movements, which must pass an suitability evaluation process by the European Central Bank (ECB), will be undertaken in the coming months. Guerrero will leave the bank "at his own request" on March 21 of next year after 17 years at the head of the entity.

The appointment of Ortiz, currently responsible for Commercial Banking, as CEO must be agreed upon at a general meeting of shareholders that will also be held on March 21, at which time the appointment will become effective.

Graduate in Law, State lawyer, stock exchange agent and Madrid notary on leave, Guerrero has been a founding partner and vice president of A.B. Stock Market Advisors and president of the Madrid Stock Exchange. He became president of Bankinter in 2007.

Coming from Línea Directa, where she was CEO, Dancausa has diversified the bank's sources of income and expanded its geographical perimeter. The entity highlights that, during Dancausa's time at the helm, Bankinter "has established itself as one of the most solid and profitable in Europe."

Ortiz has an extensive career in the financial and insurance sector. She joined Bankinter in 2001 as Director of Management Control and subsequently worked at the entity as Director of Investor Relations, Financial Director, Director of Digital Banking, Technology and Operations and, since 2021, Director of Commercial Banking.

He has also led the Corporate and Business Development area and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bankinter Innovation Foundation. She is also a director of the group's subsidiary companies and president of the Board of Bankinter Luxembourg.
