The Àtrium room in Barcelona is hosting another comedy by Marc Artigau, Les altres, the result of a commission that the actresses Cristina Arenas and Laura Pujolàs put to the playwright. Interpreting a collection of characters, the actresses, directed by Meritxell Yanes, present situations typical of adolescence linked to the seven deadly sins, served with acid humor and good work.
“When they proposed it to me – says Artigau – I immediately thought of a kind of anthology of short stories, with the excuse of the deadly sins. It is a simple stage show, so that it can be taken everywhere. It is a production very different from that of L'illa deserta”, which can be seen at La Villarroel and has already sold out all the tickets.
“The stories of Les altres are marked by humor, sometimes even black,” he continues. And it is not a work only for teenagers, but for all kinds of audiences”.
In this sense, Yanes adds: "It is a work to see as a family, because it can give rise to many conversations, because adolescence for parents and children is the same, a moment of discovery, even if the environment or technology is different."
On stage, Arenas and Pujolàs present eight scenes in which they play various characters: the friends who meet in the disco's bathroom, the shy classmate who presents a job to his peers, the overprotective mother who wants the best for his daughter or the parent meeting with the teacher who wants to leave because she can't stand her students.
This last episode of the professor, hilarious, is written in verse: “I am very attracted to the idea of writing in verse, but I don't dare to do a whole work,” Artigau confesses. Instead, here, as it is only one of the stories, I have tried it ”.
Les altres premiered in April at La Planeta in Girona, which co-produces it with Mithistòrima Produccions, and can now be seen at the Àtrium in Barcelona until July 2.
