Being able to control the tires when cornering in a snowy environment or to apply the brakes with precision when the ice makes the vehicle slip, unleashes the adrenaline of the most experienced driver. The possibility of driving through some of the most captivating winter landscapes in Spain is one of those experiences that remains engraved in the memories of motorsport lovers forever. That is precisely what happens in the Audi Winter driving experience. Participants experience first-hand what it is like to drive in environments as demanding as they are impressive, such as the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the peaks of the Baqueira Beret ski resort.
The rich landscape and climatic variety of Spain mean that it has unbeatable spaces for practicing driving in extreme conditions. Sierra Nevada and Baqueira Beret are two of them and Audi knows how to make the most of their conditions. The days are held from December 28 to 30, 2023 and every weekend from January 13 to February 25.
Participants will enjoy the magnificent characteristics of some of the vehicles in the fleet that Audi makes available to them: the Audi S3, the Audi RS3, the Audi TT RS, the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Audi RS e-tron GT in the Sierra Nevada experience, and the Audi Q4 e-tron, the Audi RS 6 Avant, the Audi RS 5 Sportback, the Audi RS 4 Avant, Audi RS 3 Sportback and the Audi S3 Sportback in Baqueira Beret.
During the sessions, and after the corresponding previous theoretical explanations, different very useful exercises for driving on snow will be put into practice: dosing the braking power and calculating the distance necessary to stop the car in the brake challenge; learn the best techniques for driving on sliding curves; or learn the basics of controlling the weight of the car in a sequence of curves in the slalom rolling test, among others.
The opportunities that Audi offers in the emblematic Sierra Nevada ski resort do not stop there. Because this year the brand offers an even more challenging adventure: the Audi Night Winter experience, a course in which customers will be able to live the experience of driving when the tracks close, when night covers the station.
Night driving tests include practice on emergency braking with avoidance on unpredictable surfaces; slalom test to take advantage of inertia and improve direction changes; or what is known as a sliding circle, which allows you to learn to draw a curve on low-adhesion terrain. Drivers will test the effectiveness of Audi's quattro traction in a drive through the Sierra Nevada ice and snow circuit. The program for this course, in addition to the driving tests, includes a theoretical class and a gourmet dinner.
Meanwhile, in Baqueira, Audi has launched a new course, aimed at learning the basics of safety on mountain roads in adverse weather. A trainer will polish possible errors in driving either with the Audi Q8 e-tron model or with the Audi RS e-tron GT, two 100% electric vehicles. Afterwards, drivers will be able to test themselves on the ski resort's ice and snow circuit. It will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from January 13 to February 25, 2024.
And if you want to live the experience of driving on a frozen lake you can do it in Finland from March 8 to 11. Audi offers the opportunity to participate in a four-day course, 200 kilometers beyond the Arctic Circle, at the controls of an Audi RS4 Avant.
During these days, drivers will gain knowledge about key aspects of driving on ice. Emergency braking and curve transitions with the support of innovative Audi technology in alternating curves, free driving around the circuit, several special stages and different routes over those 10 kilometers of splendid ice.
The experience of driving on snow and ice is now within the reach of any driving lover thanks to the Audi Winter driving experience. All participants will be able to show off their driving skills, pumping their adrenaline while overcoming the challenges posed by the extreme weather conditions. An unforgettable adventure in incredible environments for those driving enthusiasts who want to live an experience capable of bringing their emotions to the surface.
