Lasquetty, Ayuso's economic guru, leaves politics

The former Minister of Economy and Finance of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, will leave politics and the Madrid Assembly to make the leap to private business and will join the investment company Morivest, owned by Alicia Koplowitz.

His departure had been predicted since Ayuso relegated him to rank-and-file deputy after the creation of his current government team full of technocrats, and Lasquetty himself had acknowledged that he was studying offers to make the leap to private companies.

However, the former councilor has waited until now to leave his credentials in a resignation that will become effective in the plenary session this Thursday in the regional Chamber.

Last June, Fernández-Lasquetty said that the decision not to continue in the regional Executive during the new legislature that was being forged was of "own will", because it was "time to take a step back and leave little by little." about politic".

Six months later he leaves the Madrid Assembly to join the board of Morinvest, as confirmed by sources close to EFE.

With a marked liberal profile, Fernández-Lasquetty was chief of staff of the then president of the PP, Pablo Casado. He resigned as Minister of Health in 2014 when the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid overturned the hospital privatization plan, initiated during the Esperanza Aguirre era, with whom he had also held the Immigration and Cooperation portfolio (2007-2010). .

In August 2019, in the first government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the coalition with Ciudadanos, he was appointed Minister of Finance and Public Function and had the challenge of being the architect of the largest tax drop in history promised by Ayuso.

After the early elections of 2021, he continued in the Díaz Ayuso Executive at the head of the Ministry of Finance.
