The Mataró City Council (Maresme) has officially named the communicator Justo Molinero as the city's Adoptive Son. The radio operator created RM Radio in the 80s and since then he has not stopped communicating with his own style, giving voice to people from all walks of life, winning, among others, an Ondas Award, the National Communication Award and the San Jorge Cross.

In a brief message, faithful to his communication style, Justo Molinero yesterday thanked the mayor for his appointment, with: "Bote, you are a great guy." He gave the award to his entire radio team and recalled that "if one day Mataró needs me, it will have me here."

The noble room of the City Council yesterday hosted the Adoptive Son nomination ceremony for Justo Molinero, who was accompanied by his family and numerous friends related to his communicative action. The initiative, promoted by Mayor David Bote, was approved unanimously at the Board of Spokespersons held on January 30.

Justo Molinero Calero (Villanueva de Córdoba 1949) arrived in Catalonia in 1967 and began working as a mechanic, then acquired a taxi license in the city of Barcelona and created the first on-demand service with the interconnection of vehicles through a central office. distribution company, Tele Taxi, thanks to which it boosted the service.

In 1982, on the occasion of the World Football Championship, in which Barcelona played a relevant role with the opening ceremony and the elimination phases, the idea arose of creating a radio station that would facilitate communication between users. coming from all over Spain and the world.

That early project became a radio alternative that revealed the need for direct and participatory radio, which echoed the best of Spanish music in a panorama that prioritizes Anglo-Saxon pop music charts.

In 1987, Justo Molinero arrived in Mataró with the acquisition of the Ràdio Mataró station created in 1977. Soon, with the remodeling of the studios on Cooperativa street and the construction of a new RM Ràdio broadcasting center, it became the reference station of the capital and the Maresme region.

In 1998, RM Ràdio moved its studios to its current headquarters, on Camí Ral, and began the digitalization of the radio production process that guarantees its projection for the future. With the transfer of the broadcasting center to the Collserola Tower and the integration into the Tele Taxi Group, the initial project becomes a network of stations with full coverage in Catalonia and the Principality of Andorra.

For the group, the Internet has become a tool for expanding and consolidating a concept of proximity radio appropriate to the tastes of new generations. Currently, the Mataró studios, together with those in Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Tarragona, are a point of reference for the hundreds of listeners who visit the facilities to enjoy the programs being made live.

With their own style, over 40 years, today's protagonists have paraded through the Justo Molinero microphone. Presidents of the Government, presidents of the Generalitat, Pope John Paul II, spokespersons for all political parties, mayors, people significant for their civic and cultural activity have been and are regulars of its program. All the mayors of Mataró have found their space to take stock of their management.

RM Radio and Radio Tele Taxi have become a fundamental tool for the promotion of music in Catalan and Spanish. RM Radio and Radio Tele Taxi have always sought to bring the best of the live music scene to the majority of the audience. Festivals in venues such as the Parc Central de Mataró, the Parc Urbà de Can Zam or Isla Fantasía are legendary.

From Justo Molinero radio, as the mayor recalled, the city and the Maresme region and their activities in Catalonia have always been projected through the sixteen stations that today become a reference in the history of radio in Catalonia.

Among the awards he has received, the Ondas Award for professional career, the Sant Jordi Cross in 2021, and the National Communication Award in 2013, among others, stand out.
