Jorge González denounces having suffered racist and hate attacks after his time at the Benidorm Fest

The Benidorm Fest continues to give a lot to talk about. Spain witnessed how last Saturday, February 3, the song Zorra by Nebulossa was proclaimed the winner of the Spanish contest, thus becoming the proposal that will represent Spain in the next Song Festival, to be held in the city of Malmö (Sweden) on May 11.

However, the choice of the theme and the musical group has triggered a great national debate, in which many have positioned themselves in favor of the protest message of the song and many others have been against everything that surrounds the Eurovision proposal. .

But this latest Spanish Eurovision preselection has not only left its mark on its Eurofans. He has also done it with the other participants in the contest, who were not rated as highly by the jury and the public. One of them was undoubtedly Jorge González. The former triumph appeared at the Benidorm Fest with the song Caliente, and despite being one of the public's great favorites, the singer was one of the worst rated by the jury. A score that without a doubt left him with no options to win the competition.

Now, days after Nebulossa's victory, the artist wanted to open up about everything he experienced that week in a recent interview with the media 20 Minutos. The singer claimed that he "saw himself on stage in Malmö." ''We planned a show, a show that could work here as well as anywhere in Europe,'' he stressed.

Regarding the score he received from the jury, Jorge González was very surprised. ''I did not understand. Beatriz Luengo said that the whole was going to be valued and that was not the case. I did not feel fully valued (...) With the addition of the demoscopic vote and the televoting, we obtained almost 90% of the total. A score that didn't matter because the jury left me out of combat,' he declared. ''I feel sorry because we were very excited to live this experience,'' he commented.

Likewise, the artist was in favor of the winning proposal, but confessed that all those who had been supporting the message of 'Zorra' for months were the same ones who "had been savagely insulting him for weeks." ''Many red lines have been crossed and I have had to file occasional complaints due to the serious attacks of hate and racism that I have received,'' he asserted.

''I am very surprised, for example, that they have called me a 'faggot gypsy' in a derogatory tone (...) No one has raised their hand or raised the phone in response to what has happened to me and continues to happen to me and I think it is very serious.' ', stated the artist. Furthermore, Jorge González confessed that he had created an image of himself that had nothing to do with reality. ''I'm not the pimp that some believe and those types of statements hurt me because they are the opposite of me,'' he pointed out.
