Israel acknowledges attack on Gaza refugee camp that has killed at least 145 people

At least 145 people died this Tuesday due to Israeli bombings against the Jabaliya refugee camp, in the north of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, hospital sources told EFE. The Israeli army spokesman acknowledged the attack.

At least 90 deceased have been taken to the Indonesian Hospital in the strip, while another 55 have been transferred to the Kamal Adwan center, both in the north of the enclave.

A Public Relations official at the Indonesian Hospital explained to EFE that the bombings occurred around 3:00 p.m. local time. After the afternoon prayer, "a large number of injured people began to arrive at the Emergency Department, they arrived by the hundreds, the majority were minors and women," he highlighted.

He did not rule out that the death toll could be higher, since there are still many people under the rubble of collapsed buildings. For their part, Palestinian officials spoke of at least 50 dead and 150 wounded in the attack.

Many of the homes in the bombed area, where there were tunnels in the subsoil, have been reduced to nothing after this attack, since the impacts caused a hole in the ground that dragged down the surrounding homes.

It so happens that the vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital has been the target of Israeli bombing since last night, and even the health center has suffered material damage due to nearby explosions, although it has not had any direct impact.

The hospital source indicated that many families of displaced people who have nowhere to go and families of admitted patients are staying there.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, hundreds of Palestinians were killed or injured this Tuesday by an Israeli bombardment against the Jabaliya refugee camp.

On the other hand, the spokesman for the Hamas Interior Ministry, Iyad Bozum, said in a press conference that there are 400 dead and injured from the fall of six "American-made" bombs dropped by Israeli planes against residential areas of Jabaliya.

Today marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the war between Israel and Hamas, which began after the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist organization attacked Israeli territory on October 7, leaving 1,400 dead, more than 5,400 injured and 240 kidnapped, who were taken to Gaza. .

Since that date, Israel has bombed the Strip daily, and last Friday it expanded its ground operations against Gaza, which has caused more than 8,500 deaths and more than 21,500 injuries, according to Gaza authorities.
