Injection of 1.6 million euros to modernize the port of Blanes

The Generalitat has invested 1.6 million euros in modernizing the facilities of the fishing port of Blanes and in improving its connection with the urban fabric. On the one hand, the sidewalks at the port entrance have been widened, garden areas have been created and mobility on foot and also by road have been improved. The ultimate goal, as recalled yesterday by the mayor of Blanes, Jordi Hernández, who accompanied the Regional Minister for Territories, Ester Capella, on a visit to the area, is for citizens to stop living "with their backs to the port, as has happened in slight". The works and the installation of an underground tank for reclaimed water from the treatment plant that will be used to irrigate the new green areas have had a total cost of 907,000 euros.

The remaining 700,000 euros have been allocated to the installation of a new metal roof for the fish market. The structure has been waterproofed to prevent water infiltration in case of rain and 200 solar panels have been installed that will allow the facility to be energy self-sufficient. The works in the Blanes fish market, the first fishing port in catches in the Girona demarcation, have been carried out coinciding with the two closed periods of the fishermen's association. The works have been carried out by Ports de la Generalitat, which has relied on the European Maritime Fisheries Funds, which have helped finance half of the work.
