In the medieval orchard of the Pedralbes monastery in Barcelona, an initiative is being carried out to plant aromatic and medicinal flowers to favor pollinating insects, so threatened today.

It is not a joke, because without these pollinating insects, neither the flowers nor the vegetation in general could not reproduce. And they are key to our survival and to the biodiversity of our planet.

An example of this are artichokes, which are not taken and left to flower and favor pollination. That is why this spring the garden is an authentic burst of natural life, with multiple insects, flowers and plants.

It must be taken into account that of the 2,000 species of bees in Europe, four out of ten are in decline and one out of ten is currently under threat of extinction.

In this photographic report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can see an example of the beautiful spring in the Pedralbes monastery from a selection of the butterflies that we can find and admire.

The European red list places 30% of day butterflies in a situation of population loss and almost 10% are in danger of extinction.
