Incoming and outgoing Council, together to show Volkswagen a seamless support for the gigafactory

The new Consell of Carlos Marzón and the outgoing team of Ximo Puig have met this Friday with representatives of the PowerCo company, which will manage the gigafactory of batteries for electric vehicles in Sagunto (Valencia), to give a message of "continuity" and " stability" on the planned investment agenda.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Finance, Ruth Merino, and her predecessor in office, the socialist Arcadi España, in statements to journalists after the meeting they held this Friday, together with the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, with a PowerCo delegation, headed by the chief executive of this Volkswagen group company, Thomas Dahlem.

Merino has highlighted the "responsibility and speed" in the transfer of information and documentation on this project from the previous government, as well as the "fluidity" of the dialogue shown by the three parties at today's meeting, which was held at the Palau of the Generalitat.

"This great project, not only for the Community but for Spain, will continue to consolidate and will soon become a reality", assured the Minister of Finance and spokesperson for the Council.

Merino has thanked the "great work" of the outgoing team and has asserted that "from now on we will accelerate these advances more because the important thing is that it be a reality as soon as possible", since it is a "country" project.

For his part, Arcadi Spain has stressed that, in investments like this, "political borders and normal political debate must be set aside and we must focus on how important it is to provide stability."

"The Socialists, both in the government and in the opposition, are a factor of stability and we are now transferring all the information and messages and work done with the multinational so that there is an agenda that is not interrupted," said the former minister.

Spain has also indicated that its formation, from the opposition, will guarantee "without fissures" its collaboration with the new government of the Generalitat in this investment and "with all the companies that come", as long as they are "strategic and important".

"It would not be understood that a party objected to investments that are beneficial to the Community," added the ex-minister.

On the other hand, asked about the efforts for the possible implementation of a Tesla factory in the Community, Merino has indicated that at the moment he does not have data on this matter.
