Human tide in the streets of Buenos Aires in support of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner

Thousands of protesters began to mobilize this Friday in Buenos Aires and in other cities of Argentina to express their condemnation of the attack suffered on Thursday night by the country's vice president, Cristina Fernández.

Social, union and political organizations related to the ruling party and citizens have marched through the Argentine capital to the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada, headquarters of the Argentine Executive.

The demonstration seeks to publicly repudiate the attack suffered on Thursday night by the vice president, when a man of Brazilian nationality approached her, pointed a gun at her and fired twice.

The serious incident occurred when Cristina Fernández was returning to her apartment in the Recoleta neighborhood of the capital, where Kirchnerist militants were waiting for her.

After the attack, the Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, gave a message on the national network to repudiate the fact and decree this Friday as a non-working day so that citizens can express themselves in the streets against violence.

Demonstrations in solidarity with the vice president are also replicated in other cities in Argentina.

The attack took place in a scenario of strong political tension between the ruling party and the opposition, which has been increasing after on August 22 a prosecutor requested a 12-year prison sentence for the vice president in the framework of the trial. hearing to which she is subjected for alleged irregularities in the concession of public works during her Government (2007-2015).
