Students interested in obtaining a scholarship next year for post-compulsory studies, from Vocational Training and Baccalaureate to university, including artistic, sports and language teaching, can apply for them starting this Tuesday at the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Education.
Although they do not yet know the grades they will obtain this course or even what they are going to study in the next one, those interested can enter the Education portal starting at 9 a.m. this Tuesday to fill out a series of provisional data, which may be modified later.
As reported by the Ministry of Education, the deadline to apply for these scholarships will be open until May 10 and in the coming weeks the dates for the call for aid for students with specific need for educational support will also be announced.
Students in Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, Language Teaching, Artistic, Sports and University studies - including Master's students - and students with special needs for educational support (with a certified disability: severe communication and speech disorder) will be eligible for the aid. language, and autism spectrum disorder and high abilities).
The scholarship is the sum of different components. To calculate how much you are entitled to, you must take into account that the scholarship consists of a fixed amount of money (fixed amounts) and a variable amount of money (variable amount).
The fixed amounts are the basic scholarship (300 euros and incompatible with the scholarship for family income), the scholarship for family income (1,700 euros), for change of residence during the school year (2,500 euros) and for academic excellence (between 50 and 125 euros).
A variable amount can be added to this money, which will depend on the money left over from this year's scholarship budget. Once all the scholarships are distributed, it will be checked if there is any money left over from the budget and it will be given to the applicants using a mathematical formula that measures what percentage corresponds to each one.
The general call for post-compulsory studies expects to help 744,000 beneficiaries, a figure that is above that of last year, when 429,494 scholarships were granted for non-university students and 305,570 for university students (735,064). Aid for students with special educational support needs will reach around 249,000.
In total, almost one million scholarships for the next academic year, with a budget that will exceed 2,535 million euros, and with a main novelty: the 5% increase in the income thresholds, which will allow more young people to access one of these aids.
Furthermore, in the call for the next course, subsidies for renting primary residences will be excluded for the first time from the calculation of assets, as the Ombudsman had repeatedly suggested.
