Has DANA gone well for the swamps?

The recent torrential rains have caused flooding, road and train service cuts in Catalonia, but have they been beneficial for the water reserves of the swamps?

Everyone talks about showers, small tornadoes and the passage of the last DANA, but we hardly talk about the drought we have in Osona or, specifically, in forest and mountain areas like Montseny, with the swamps still without enough water.

In this series of photographs in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos we can see the Ter River, but also the Santa Fe Reservoir. This reservoir owes its name to the stream on which it is built, a tributary of the Tordera River.

It belongs to the municipality of Fogàs de Monclús, in Vallès Oriental. However, the swamp drinks from several streams such as Passavets or Gualba, which, as can be seen in the images, do not contribute much water to the last DANA.

Catalan reservoirs continue at low levels compared to the beginning of September 2022. Darnius Boadella is at 17%, when a year ago it was at 33%. Sau is at 20% (34% in 2022); Susqueda to 23% (compared to 45% in 2022); Baells is at 31% (35% in 2022); Llosa del Cavall is at 23% (30% in September 2022); Sant Ponç, in the Clariana de

Cardener, is at 35% (compared to 57% in 2022); Foix is at 49% (compared to 86% last year); Siurana is at a critical 4% (in 2022 it was at 9%), while Riudecanyes is at 4% (in 2022, at 22%).
