Half of Daft Punk gives their faces on an orchestral album

Thomas Bangalter, one half of the iconic French electronic music duo Daft Punk, will release his first solo album in April, an orchestral work entitled Mythologies, which marks his return to the forefront of the industry after the separation of the two "robots" in 2021.

The news was confirmed by the Warner record company, which is behind this project recorded with the Bordeaux Aquitaine National Orchestra, conducted by Romain Dumas.

In Mythologies, Bangalter "reinvents his relationship with composition," according to the label on its Twitter account.

The project was conceived as a result of an invitation to collaborate by the choreographer and dancer Angelin Preljocaj for his homonymous ballet, which works with the Bordeaux Orchestra.

In its disc format, on triple vinyl and on digital platforms, Mythologies will be available from April 7.

Bangalter, 48, sold 12 million records worldwide with his running mate, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, until the announcement of the duo's split in 2021.

With their faces hidden by their mythical futuristic helmets in their public appearances, Daft Punk was responsible for super hits like Around the world or One More Time.

The two met at school in 1987 and before forming that band they had another rock band called Darling.
