The spectacle of the fog mothers is one of the great attractions of autumn. And both the mountain areas of the Osona region such as Lluçanès, Ripollès and Vallès, with the great summit of Montseny, Turó and Home, are great watchtowers to spot and enjoy this meteorological phenomenon.

In Osona, the so-called Pubilla de la Plana can be accompanied by frost, it can last for days and even weeks if the conditions are favorable. In some areas it is also known as "baixa joke". Basically, it's when a sea of fog comes down and covers everything.

La Plana de Vic is an elongated depression in a north-south direction that constitutes the central nucleus of the Osona region (Barcelona). When cold air from higher altitudes descends and pools on this sunken plain, water vapor condenses into microscopic droplets. This is how a sea of fog is produced that is a characteristic part of the landscape.

The city of Vic, located in its center, is the most important town in this area, which arose in this way: the Ter river and its tributaries, with its erosive action, much deeper in the eastern part than in the western part. , originated the Plana de Vic.

In these images in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos we can contemplate the Plana de Vic under the spectacular fog. This depression has a total area of 600 km2. It is completely surrounded by mountains, those of Ripollès and Garrotxa in the north; the Guilleries to the east; the Montseny to the southeast; the Moianès and the Lluçanès to the west. Therefore, it is closed by a ring of saws.

These images have been captured from the Santuari dels Munts, with the white Pyrenees and fog in Ripollès, Osona and Lluçanès.

The Santuari dels Munts is a baroque church whose architectural relevance means that it is included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.

From the site of this sanctuary, with a 360º view we see Montseny, Collsacabra, the Eastern Pyrenees, the Pedraforca massif or Montserrat.

These photographs are taken from Bellmunt, with a lot of fog in La Plana and everywhere, as can be seen. The views from the Bellmunt sanctuary are impressive, as it is located at the highest point of the mountain range, at 1,246 meters above sea level.

We are located in the first foothills of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees and from its peaks you can see the Plana de Vic, to the south, and a series of mountain ranges that culminate to the north with the Rasos de Peguera massif, the Cadí and the peaks of Pedraforca and the Puigmal.

The Sierra de Bellmunt is a natural environment that has ideal mountains for peaceful excursions without much difficulty. The route from Vidrà, passing the Salgueda bridge, the Salt del Molí and the Tosca dels Degollats, is one of the most recommended.

These photographs have been taken from the Turó de l'Home, with 380 degree views of the Pyrenees and sea of fog. It is the highest mountain in Montseny, with an altitude of 1,705.8 meters, which places it above the other two most representative peaks of the massif, les Agudes (1,705.4 m) and Matagalls (1,697.2 m). m).
