Global Omnium presents the GO2ai solution for biodiversity at COP28

Within the framework of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, Juan Luis Pozo, Director of Corporate Sustainability at Global Omnium, has announced a pioneering project that promises to revolutionize the evaluation and management of environmental impacts and biodiversity: GO2ai.

This project has been developed in collaboration with the scientific field of several universities in Spain, as well as with prominent players in the sector, such as BiocarbonEstates and Eurofinance Ingenuity. The synergy between Global Omnium and these references has allowed the creation of a comprehensive approach, in a context where concern for biodiversity and carbon neutrality is constantly increasing.

Pozo highlighted the GO2 ecosystem, equipped with the advanced GO2ai module, which allows measuring investment in nature through biodiversity rating. That is, measuring the real and tangible impact on biodiversity that organizations voluntarily wish to focus on in their investments in social responsibility and ESG.

GO2ai procedure

The GO2ai module makes it possible to analyze the initial biodiversity of an environment through an exhaustive 360º study of any activity. Subsequently, an analysis is carried out of the investment actions necessary in the ecosystem to improve biodiversity. This leads to the generation of a Biodiversity Rating, which allows organizations to measure their investments in improving the environment, allowing the reversal of negative impacts through the management of biodiversity in local environments. All of this under a model of evaluation certified by an independent third party, in accordance with different international standards.

This project complements the GO2 tool developed by Global Omnium for detailed monitoring of the carbon footprint and water footprint, providing a comprehensive understanding of the ecological consequences of human actions. This allows biodiversity to be integrated into the analysis, design and implementation of compensation processes, converting actions into positive impacts aimed at the local communities closest to the place where the activity is carried out.

An initiative that involves the extensive application of biochar in agricultural and rangeland environments. With the capacity to sequester up to 3.8 gigatonnes of CO2 annually globally, this project highlights the GO2 system's commitment not only to monitoring environmental footprints, but also to active participation in initiatives that contribute
