Girona organizes a tourist visit to the wall adapted for people in wheelchairs

Girona City Council and Mifas have organized a pilot test so that people in wheelchairs can visit the wall of Girona. To do so, a Joëlette chair is used to travel the section of the wall from Torre Gironella to the tower of General Peralta.

This type of chair is all-terrain and has only one wheel. Two companions help push the chair and ensure its stability. Usually this type of chair is used in natural spaces where the use of motorized chairs is not allowed. In this way, it is guaranteed that people with reduced mobility can go hiking.

The objective of the pilot test is to see if this wheelchair model could be used in an urban environment and if access to the Girona wall can be guaranteed for people with reduced mobility. For this test, a chair provided by the Girona Provincial Council that they have in natural parks and the demarcation has been used. The action is part of the city's Plan Estratègic de Turisme, which aims to promote universal tourism and turn Girona into an accessible destination.
