Frosty grazing of angus cows

In La Vanguardia Readers' Photos we can see these black and white images of these Angus cows, with newborn calves, grazing in a frosty field around Cardona, in Bages, when the temperature of the car read -5°C.

The Angus is a breed of cattle native to Scotland known for being raised for meat consumption. Its name is due to the fact that it is native to the Angus area, as well as Aberdeenshire.

It can be black, as in this case in Cardona, or red. Another of its peculiarities is that it is a cow that does not have horns.

The average weight of cows varies between 500 and 600 kilograms, although in males it can range between 800 and 1000 kilos. The babies, like the protagonists of these images, weigh between approximately 25 and 33 kilograms at birth.

Angus is appreciated, but a hybrid called Brangus was even created from crossing this breed with genetics from zebu, a species of domestic cattle native to Asia.
