Barcelona City Council will only award, at least for now, 17 of the 35 commercial premises it purchased in 2021 to rent them at reasonable prices and facilitate the opening of local businesses. This is the Amunt blinds program. The deputy mayor of Economy, the socialist Jordi Valls, recognized this yesterday in the municipal Economy Commission, responding to a question from ERC councilor Jordi Castellana.

“In total the City Council received 48 business proposals,” Valls added. “It doesn't seem like things are going very well,” Castellana replied. The Republicans are very involved in the future of the Amunt persianes program because it was the result of the negotiations they held in 2020 with commoners and socialists regarding municipal budgets. In the end, the City Council's investment was 17.5 million euros.

Last week La Vanguardia explained that these 35 basses are still unused. Then municipal sources assured that the City Council would award them “imminently.” The numbers revealed yesterday by the Deputy Mayor for the Economy further disappointed Republicans. Valls also said yesterday that a good part of these delays are due to the fact that the City Council finally decided not to make any awards during the electoral period, and that then a few bureaucratic difficulties arose.
