Fifteen beaches in Catalonia closed to bathing due to the poor state of the water after the latest rains

Fifteen beaches in Maresme and Barcelonès have been closed to the bathroom this Saturday and the red flag is flying on them as a result of the poor quality of the water after the rains that have fallen in recent hours, Civil Protection sources have informed EFE.

These are the beaches of Sant Simó, Callao, Varador and Ponent, in Mataró; that of Picòrdia, in Arenys de Mar; and those of Roques Blanques, Can Villar, Platjola and les Escaletes, and Morer, in Sant Pol de Mar.

Those of Sant Vicenç, in Sant Vicenç de Montal, are also closed; that of Barques, in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres; and the Nudist, Can Camins, Remolar and Roberta, in El Prat del Llobregat.

On another 52 beaches on the Catalan coast, the yellow flag flies this Saturday, while 84 display the green one. The status of 250 beaches and bathing areas in Catalonia can be checked this summer on the Civil Protection website, which has enabled a viewer for the summer season.

Civil Protection, on the other hand, deactivated the INUNCAT plan this morning after the episode of intense rain this Friday, in which, according to this organization, less intense rainfall was recorded than on Thursday.

The rains have left last night at the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona 27.6 liters per square meter in 30 minutes, fifteen of them in ten minutes. At noon this Friday, the C-37 highway, as it passes through Sant Salvador de Guardiola, was reopened to traffic after being cut off on Thursday by landslides caused by the rain.

Until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Civil Protection indicates, the 112 emergency telephone number answered 286 calls due to the episode of heavy rain, the majority coming from the Bages region (83); followed by Osona (42) and Pla d'Urgell (30).
