Alberto Núñez Feijóo has distanced himself from the words of the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, who predicted that a government of PP and Vox would raise the tension in Catalonia even to values higher than those of 2017, when the Procès took place. In an interview in Al Rojo Vivo, from La Sexta, the president of the PP made it clear that his objective is to "reduce tension" and "unite society.
"What I will do is reduce all the tensions in my country as a whole, because I believe that it is the fundamental thing that a government must do, reduce tension, unite society, not fracture it, not divide it and not stress it." Of course, Feijóo added, "of course, what I will also do is not submit to minorities who want to break the laws."

If he governs, what he will do is "reduce tensions, talk to the whole world and comply with the Constitution throughout the national territory", and in the event of having to face a new declaration of independence, he will tell the Catalan pro-independence leaders that " That does not fit in the Spanish Constitution, nor in the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia, nor in the European Union".
Precisely for this reason, the president of the PP intends to recover the crime of sedition, increase the penalties for the crimes of embezzlement of public funds and classify the illegal referendum as a crime. The popular leader refutes the statement of the ERC leader. Oriol Junqueras, that a referendum would be a demonstration of democracy, because "if Mr. Junqueras is a democrat, he will understand that the democracy he is asking for is also the democracy of the Spanish people as a whole."
