Feijóo promises a legal, political and social response against the agreement

Alberto Núñez Feijóo believes the fears he predicted if the PSOE reached an agreement with Carles Puigdemont have been confirmed: the independence movement wins while the PSOE “is missing.” In the opinion of the PP leader, the PSOE "has given in to each and every one" of their demands, which means that those in favor of breaking with Spain "come out strengthened to resume their fight against the State." The secessionists, in his opinion, “have not made a single concession, there is not the slightest regret, nor the slightest desire to redirect the situation.”

Spain loses, according to Feijóo, because “it is sacrificing equality, taxes, dignity and the rule of law”, and Sánchez is subjecting it “to humiliation”, with an agreement that includes “the recognition of Catalonia as a nation, distinct to the Spanish nation.” An agreement, he added, that admits that Junts “will propose a self-determination referendum” and that defends “the transfer of 100 percent of the taxes to Catalonia.”

After learning of the agreement, Feijóo made a statement at the PP headquarters flanked by a flag of Spain and another of Europe. The leader of the PP adds that the reference to lawfare – the use of the instruments of justice against political adversaries –, in his opinion, “denies that Spain is a State of law” and converts “criminal acts into legal ones” while that “condemns all those Catalans and the rest of the Spaniards who defended democracy when it was attacked.”

The president of the PP considers that the agreements between the PSOE and Junts are “the agreements of shame”, given that “they turn the Supreme Court into a repressor”, it is a blow to the foundations of the Judiciary and weakens the State of the autonomies “ by ending the equality of Spaniards”, which will “legitimize the discourse of the independence supporters”.

For all these reasons, the PP predicts many evils for the socialists. “This drift is not going to bring the PSOE to a successful conclusion,” said Alberto Núñez Feijóo, given that “it has renounced its history and its principles and has given up defending what it represents,” so “they will pay for that,” he says. ”, because the current situation cannot occur without the connivance of Sánchez.

The president of the PP says, in this sense, that it is not the first challenge that Spain has to face, and among them he cited, “the coup d'état of 23-F, the coup of ETA terrorism and the coup perpetrated by the independence movement Catalan in 2017”, all of them “challenges to freedom and coexistence in Spain”. What differentiates them, in the opinion of the PP, is that until now, these challenges have been faced by the presidents of the government, but on this occasion “the challenge to the values of the Constitution is carried out by a candidate for the presidency of the government.” .

That is why Feijóo promised to use all the instruments at his disposal, in the parliamentary, political and social channels, that is, in the street, in a "firm but serene" response, in reference to the altercations that occurred in some demonstrations, and taking into account that the PP has called rallies on Sunday throughout Spain.
