Feijóo announces the abstention of the PP in the "show" of the motion of censure defended by Tamames

Alberto Núñez Feijóo affirms that he "understands" that there are many Spaniards who "want a change in the Government of Spain", but, in his opinion, the motion of censure presented by Vox is not the most appropriate solution, which goes through the polls, but rather a "parliamentary show" that will take place in "a couple of afternoons" in Congress, for which reason he has demanded that the extreme right take politics "more seriously.

Feijóo announces the abstention of the PP in the "show" of the motion of censure defended by Tamames

Alberto Núñez Feijóo affirms that he "understands" that there are many Spaniards who "want a change in the Government of Spain", but, in his opinion, the motion of censure presented by Vox is not the most appropriate solution, which goes through the polls, but rather a "parliamentary show" that will take place in "a couple of afternoons" in Congress, for which reason he has demanded that the extreme right take politics "more seriously."

The president of the PP has therefore refused to support the motion - "we do not share it", were his words - but has discharged Ramón Tamames of responsibility, who will defend it as an alternative candidate for the presidency of the Government. "We respect the biography and academic level of Professor Tamames," Feijóo has qualified about a "personal decision" of the octogenarian economist that does not seem right to him.

In any case, neither the current situation in Spain, about to start an electoral cycle that will start with the municipal and regional elections in May and end with the general elections at the end of the year, nor the "little respect" of Vox for the figure of the A motion of no confidence, which has "no chance" of prospering, allows, from the point of view of the PP, to support the initiative of the extreme right, which will give, in Feijóo's opinion, "victory" to a "divided and convulsed" government ".

"We are not going to oppose it, but we will not support it", is the formula used by the conservative leader, who is not a deputy and will not be able to defend his party's position during the debate in Congress, to announce the abstention. "This is not the time, nor the opportunity, nor the most intelligent thing to get the government to change," he insisted, although he has exonerated the rapporteur of "guilt", who "knows perfectly well that he is not going to be president of the Government."

Regarding the meal that he shared yesterday with his predecessor in office, Pablo Casado, the current president of the PP has played down the importance of the meeting, which took place a year after the convulsive replacement in the leadership of the formation, and has circumscribed it to "cordiality" between fellow party members who, moreover, have had the highest organic responsibility.

"I don't have much news to give you," Feijóo responded to the press after his visit to the García Carrión de Daimiel winery, in Castilla-La Mancha. It was, he has assured, a meal that should have been held at Christmas but was postponed due to Casado's "international agenda", who is "focused" on his new professional activity.

In this sense, Feijóo has ruled out the return of the former president of the PP to the public sphere, since, as he has assured that Casado transmitted to him during his "interesting" and "timely" conversation, his new dedication is not "compatible" with the activity political, an explanation that seems to him, he has affirmed, entirely "reasonable" and "intelligent".

"I regret that there is no news, but in my party it is not prohibited to meet and speak with former leaders, there is nothing to hide, there is no bad conscience," Feijóo argued to get out of the speculation about the coincidence of his meeting with Casado with the information published these days about the ins and outs of his defenestration, now a year ago.
