Extra hours in cleaning services to get the beaches of the Costa Blanca ready

From Xàbia to Orihuela Costa, the municipal cleaning services of the Alicante coastal municipalities have been making efforts these days to ensure that the beaches of the different localities recover as soon as possible the characteristics that make them attractive for tourism, repairing the damage caused to walkways, footbaths and other structures, in addition to removing tons of algae and waste dragged by the storm to the sandy beaches.

Cleaning workers work day and night with tractors and beach cleaning machines to repair the damage. As on the coast of Elche, where, as the councilor for Tourism, Irene Ruiz, explained today, the workers manually clean the sand in sections, while the machines "perform the screening and transportation of the algae", due to the "a large amount that has appeared after the storm."

The heavy rains and intense wind broke accesses and footbaths to Elche beaches such as Arenales del Sol or El Carabassí, in addition to displacing the wooden walkways enabled for access to the sea. Some of them “ended up in the water and others buried in sand,” explained the mayor.

Torrevieja, Guardamar, Santa Pola, Alicante capital... the entire Alicante coast, passing through La Vila, Benidorm, Calp, to the beaches of Dénia and Xàbia, have needed to reinforce their cleaning services this week, and all of them are expected to be in perfect condition in the second weekend of September, for which the meteorology predicts clear skies and temperatures that will range between 0 and degrees Celsius on the coast.
