Europe will require an E energy certificate to rent an apartment

The European Union sets the goal for 2030 that all homes have an energy rating with the letter E, which will be a requirement both for selling and renting an apartment. Three years later, in 2033, the D will be required.

A better energy rating implies greater energy savings and, therefore, economic savings for the inhabitants of the home. The Institut Català d'Energia also remembers that this translates into a "better quality of life with a decrease in noise, an increase in comfort and the quality of the materials in the home or building."

Having an energy rating of A, the highest, means savings of 91.55% more compared to the letter G, the lowest, and implies almost half the savings (42.7%) compared to the previous letter, B .

The Program to promote the improvement of energy efficiency and sustainability in housing is a state public project that regulates aid for improvement works in this regard.

The aid is aimed at single-family homes and buildings and generally covers 40% of the investment, which can reach 75% in special cases. There are other amounts for specific profiles, such as those under 35 years of age in small municipalities or people with disabilities.
