Esquerra is concerned with Junts and urges them to vote in favor of the amnesty

The Junts cadres only appear in public and en masse after the resolution of a negotiation with the PSOE. Whether the sun shines or it continues to rain, when they are successful or when they have to qualify failures. The rest of the days, leave. ERC lends itself more to the media. However, yesterday he copied this way of going out in a rush, but to try to pressure the post-convergents to approve the Amnesty law in the revalidation. Oriol Junqueras, Marta Vilalta, Joan Ignasi Elena, also Campuzano, criticized them for the lack of agreement in the meeting in Barcelona on Wednesday between Félix Bolaños and Santos Cerdán, on behalf of the PSOE, with Jordi Turull and Miriam Nogueras, on the part of JxCat.

In Esquerra it is not clear that the PSOE will end up approving the amnesty if Junts' position persists. Junqueras expressed doubts about this in La Sexta. In addition, he described Junts' first rejection of the norm in Congress as a “manifest error,” because it unprotected, in his opinion, 1,500 people investigated, prosecuted or convicted for the consultation of November 9, 2014, for the 1-O or due to the post-sentence protests of the Supreme Court. He insisted that criminal oblivion “covers everyone” and stated that with his positioning, the formation led by Carles Puigdemont “gives ammunition” to the extreme right.

Republicans not only see the amnesty in danger, but also the general state budget. In the party they perceive that the PSOE is no longer so clear that Junts will vote in favor of the 2024 accounts that the Government of Pedro Sánchez can prepare and they fear that the approval of the Generalitat's budget will be delayed, waiting for events. in Madrid.

Vilalta, deputy general secretary of ERC, also reproached Junts. She agreed with the president of her party that the Amnesty law, as it is now drafted, “already includes all the people retaliated against within the framework of the independence cause.” And she doesn't think changes are necessary.

However, the Republican spokesperson also spoke of pardons. He did so from the point of view that the Vice-Minister of the Government, Sergi Sabrià, had already expressed last week: that the amnesty is essential and that it is necessary to approve it, but that surely, after the interpretations that some judges may make that exclude those affected supposedly they would have to be able to avail themselves of criminal oblivion, “other things will have to come, be it called reform of another law, be it called modification of something else or may be called pardons a posteriori.”

Carles Campuzano, Minister of Social Rights, went further and assured that the Sánchez Government is willing to pardon anyone who cannot benefit from the amnesty.

But the statements of the leader, who is not a member of ERC, were not liked by the party. Nor to Turull, general secretary of Junts, who stated that with statements like that, Campuzano supports the PSOE more than the independence movement.

For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, trusted that “the mistake of losing a historic opportunity will not be made” to approve the amnesty. Of the ERC cadres who made statements yesterday, he was the most optimistic.

ERC maintains constant contact with the PSOE. Yesterday, however, Vilalta did not want to confirm if his training was also seen with Bolaños. However, the Republicans assume that the PSOE will keep its word not to modify the law and that at most they will agree to offer guarantees to Junts through other means unrelated to the Amnesty law.

Be that as it may, Vilalta recalled that in case of modifications to the standard, there are several groups that would have to validate them.
