In this series of photographs for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos I portray the autumn sunrise and sunset in Altea from Cap Negret.

Cap Negret beach is the one that extends from the mouth of the Algar River to Cala del Soio. It has as a backdrop the spectacular Sierra de Bèrnia.

It is a gravel beach with clean waters, which is usually calm, but with many hotels and restaurants in the area and, in the high swimming season, the possibility of renting water skates or hammocks.

Altea tourism tries to escape from overcrowding. In autumn, it is even more noticeable and is a good opportunity to practice water sports, as seen in one of the photographs, with kite surfing as the protagonist.

In this same image we can admire a solar pillar over the waters of the Mediterranean. The effect is created by the reflection of light from small ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds (for example, cirrostratus or cirrus clouds).
