EH Bildu offers the socialist María Chivite her votes in a hypothetical investiture

The acting president of Navarra, the socialist María Chivite, continues with two open fronts in order to close her investiture, with the deadline of August 28 if she wants to avoid an electoral repetition. The main front, the negotiation with Geroa Bai and Contigo/Zurekin, is blocked due to the differences between the Basque coalition regarding the distribution of portfolios with a view to reissuing the government formula of the last legislature. Meanwhile, the other front, which involves agreeing on the abstention of EH Bildu in a possible investiture, continues to clear up. The abertzale coalition has offered this Wednesday to "unblock" the current situation and to assess, not just the possible abstention from it, but a possible affirmative vote for Chivite.

The position of the abertzale formation comes after Geroa Bai has threatened to stay out of a government with the socialists. The Basque coalition, in which the PNV is integrated, wishes to maintain the weight that the last legislature had in the Chivite Executive, while the Socialists have launched a proposal in which their responsibilities would be drastically reduced. The positions are very far apart, and that is where the possibility that EH Bildu could vote in the affirmative in a hypothetical investiture has emerged.

The spokesperson for EH Bildu in the Parliament of Navarra, Laura Aznal, has criticized that "we are witnessing a truly worrisome situation, marked by the war of positions, positions and by a policy of vetoes conditioned by the right"

Aznal has warned that "the future of the people, of Navarra, is at stake, and we are not willing to ignore what the polls have said, which is nothing more than Navarre society does not want the right to govern and condition the policies public".

In this regard, he has transferred the commitment of EH Bildu that the right "do not determine the future of Navarra" and "fulfill the democratic mandate to form alternative progressive majorities." Therefore, he has called to "act responsibly."

The Abertzale coalition has shown its willingness to "unblock" the negotiation and to do "everything in our power to fulfill this democratic mandate." Likewise, it has shown itself willing to "assess the unlocking" of Chivite's investiture through the affirmative vote of EH Bildu. In this sense, he has announced a consultation with his militancy.

Aznal has said that the investiture "is a condition of possibility to develop a legislature that responds to the needs of the citizenry." Therefore, she has urged to "unblock this situation, talk to everyone and talk to all progress groups."

In this sense, he has indicated that the investiture "opens a path to advance in rights, a legislature in which EH Bildu will continue to be demanding." Thus, he has opted for "advancing in disputes, rights, the strengthening of public services." And he has insisted on the need to "talk to each and every one of the progressive groups because it is a responsibility of all the groups"

The spokesperson for EH Bildu has considered that the citizens of Navarre "would not understand" an electoral repetition because "there are possibilities of forming alternative majorities". "It won't be for us," she added.

Asked about the possibility of EH Bildu negotiating an alternative government in the Pamplona City Council that is not led by Joseba Asiron, mayor between 2015 and 2019, and current candidate, Aznal replied that the coalition "is willing to talk about governance in all the institutions", but under the premise that "the most voted progressive force should lead the governments" of these institutions.
