Dolors Sabater opens campaign to "transform Badalona"

Dolors Sabater was presented as a candidate from Guanyem Badalona for the city mayor's office for this year's municipal elections. The act took place in the Teatro del Círcol, in Badalona, with the slogan "A mayoress to transform Badalona".

The former mayor and candidate of Guanyem Badalona spoke with journalist Vicent Partal about her career as an activist in the city and leader of various struggles, and about how Sabater sees the present of Badalona and the future she would like as mayor.

The act focused on the will to transform Badalona. Sabater explained that “transforming means going further. Not only solve the problems of human security, cleanliness and housing, but also resume work so that Badalona is a city in which you can live”. Sabater projected three wishes to be achieved during the next legislature as mayor: that Badalona be a benchmark in human security, promote cohesion between neighbors and recover the pride of the city. The candidate has insisted that “it cannot be normalized that nothing ever works in Badalona, that everything costs so much; there is a great discouragement in the people that we do not deserve as a city ”.

Dolors Sabater's project and model of the city is the opposite of Xavier Garcia Albiol's. "I am very sensitive to all injustices, and that a working-class city like Badalona has a liberal and far-right mayor is an injustice to the city," Sabater reflected. During the act, the Guanyem Badalona candidate explained that she is facing this challenge "with the same enthusiasm as when she fought only from the street or from the classroom", highlighting that if something has changed since she was going to assume an institutional position as mayor, is that "now I am stronger".
