Cut off the N-260 at the border of Portbou by a fire in the French Pyrenees

The Catalan Traffic Service has closed the National Highway 260 this afternoon on its way to the border of Portbou (Girona), as the smoke from a forest fire in the French Pyrenees causes poor visibility for traffic.

The Firefighters of the Generalitat de Catalunya have reported this Sunday that they have sent reinforcement teams to this fire, in which the French Pompiers are working, and which is currently advancing towards the sea.

The fire burns between the French towns of Banyuls and Cervera de la Marenda, where nine land crews of the Catalan firefighters have moved.

The fire is near the peak of Sant Joan and advances towards the French coast, on the border with Catalonia, the Fire Department has reported.
