The Vice Presidency and Ministry of Culture, headed by Vicente Barrera (Vox), will maintain the Botànic's already scheduled commitments with aid to the Associació d'Editors del País Valencià; entity that brings together more than fifty Valencian publishers and that organizes the promotion of books published in the Valencian Community at national and international fairs. This was confirmed yesterday by sources from the Ministry and from the association itself after the meeting held in the morning by the General Director of Culture, Sergio Arlandis, with representatives of Valencian publishers.
These sources indicated that "the commitments already acquired are maintained, work will be done to implement and develop a dignity of the Valencian cultural and publishing sector". And it was pointed out that "of course, the new team of the Ministry is committed to quality in the face of politicization and the social division that has been carried out through culture and specifically literature." In addition, they pointed out the promise of Culture to "return the Valencian Community to first place in the Spanish publishing sector, because we have been a benchmark in printing and publishing".
Sources from the association told this newspaper that the meeting had been "technical" and in a "very cordial" tone. They added that the Ministry had expressed "the will to give continuity" to the support that the Generalitat grants each year to this sector. They also denied that there had been any imposition or condition on the part of the general director to deliver this aid.
The Association of Publishers of the Valencian Country, which is the main leg of the Full Foundation for the promotion of reading, coordinates every year the participation of Valencian publishing houses, in books in Spanish and Valencian, in cultural events such as the Plaça del Llibre in Valencia, the Book Week in Catalan or at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
