The BComú militants will decide this afternoon whether or not they support the municipal budget proposal of the government of Mayor Jaume Collboni. The plenary session of the training led by former mayor Ada Colau will start around six-thirty in the afternoon in the Francesca Bonnemaison library. An hour later the match will announce the results. BComú sources emphasize that the militancy's decision will be binding.
Then the future of Barcelona City Council's budgets for this year will finally be resolved. If the BComú militants give their approval, the bills proposed by the socialists will go ahead and will be definitively approved in the municipal plenary session that will take place this Friday. A few weeks ago, socialists and Republicans sealed an agreement regarding these budgets. But they still need at least six other councilors to reach a sufficient majority.
And if the bases of Colau refuse to provide their support to the PSC municipal government, Mayor Collboni will be forced to resort to a question of trust to move them forward. Then the executive will have to call an extraordinary plenary session, and then the opposition will have 30 days to agree on the proclamation of another mayor. If the different groups are not able to propose an alternative candidacy, the budgets proposed by the PSC will be automatically approved.
At the moment, relations between commoners and socialists are going through their worst moment. Those from Colau want their support for these accounts to go hand in hand with their entry into the municipal government, but Mayor Collboni insists on approving the accounts before signing any government pact.
