Classical music resonates strongly on the beach in Barcelona

Double success of classical music on the Barcelona beach. The free Clásica en la playa initiative has managed to draw thousands of spectators with their towels and chairs to the stage set up next to the sea in El Bogatell for two consecutive days.

After the resounding triumph on Tuesday of the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, which managed to gather 18,000 spectators in the arena performing Ravel's Bolero and Dvorák's New World Symphony under the direction of Josep Pons, yesterday it was the turn of the Symphony Orchestra of Barcelona and National of Catalonia (OBC).

His proposal once again filled the Bogatell stage, this time with 20,000 people in this proposal for Barcelona Obertura, a Barcelona Global initiative that unites the Liceu, the Palau de la Música and L'Auditori to promote the classical programming of Barcelona in the world .

Since six o'clock in the evening there was already an intergenerational public yesterday, which included families, young people and tourists who came across the scene and decided to stay, waiting on the beach while they sunbathed, read or had a picnic on towels or chairs brought from home.

An evening to experience classical music without protocol, also in a swimsuit, which started at nine o'clock with the OBC, directed by Ludovic Morlot, interpreting songs again by Dvorák – the Slavic Dances –, Smetana – El Moldava – and Rimski-Kórsakov – his Capricho español – but also Bizet or the sardana Empúries de Toldrà.
