City revalidates the Premier title with a comeback for history

Manchester City beat Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium (3-2) and revalidated the Premier League title, although to sing the spoils they had to overcome a roller coaster of emotions. Pep Guardiola's pupils overcame two goals against thanks, in large part, to Ilkay Gündogan, who scored two of the three goals coming off the bench.

At Anfield, Liverpool did their homework against Wolverhampton, also coming from behind (3-1), but the red victory was in vain against a cityzen team that faced the last day with a one-point advantage and the overall goal average practically won. The dream of poker titles is over for those from Merseyside, who after winning the FA Cup and the League Cup will try to achieve the treble in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Liverpool dreamed of winning the Premier, although at no time were they virtually champions, since they started losing and it was not until the 84th minute that they saw themselves ahead on the scoreboard. Pedro Neto caused a surprise when in the 3rd minute he put Wolves ahead, but then came goals from Salah, Mané and Robertson to give three disappointing points.

Instead, in Manchester, the euphoria was unleashed when the final whistle was signaled, at which point the fans left behind the anguish they experienced during the 90 minutes and invaded the field to get closer to their heroes. City, which depended on itself to win the title, needed to pull epic to win the title. At times, the ghost of the Bernabeu prowled.

City started the game with the script that was expected, enclosing in their area a visiting team that accumulated players in their area and brazenly sought the counterattack. Initially, the plan worked perfectly for Steven Gerrard's players. The Liverpool legend was close to giving his former team the Premier that he was not able to win as a player.

Shortly after half an hour Matty Cashy advanced to the 'villains' and in the second half Philippe Coutinho, a former Liverpool player, brought the title closer to Anfield with the second goal against. Everything seemed doomed to a catastrophic end for City until Gündogan entered the field, who headed the goal of hope as soon as he entered the field. Just a few seconds later, Rodri leveled the game with a low shot from outside the area and finally the German midfielder put a cross to the far post into the net. City signed the comeback in 6 minutes. The rest is history.
